Minneapolis protesters are protesting the unfair death of George Floyd

By Alex

This article is about how Minneapolis protesters are protesting the unfair death of George Floyd, a handcuffed black man who was killed by a police officer for no apparent self defence or reason. Footage recorded by a bystander shows Floyd pleading for breath while Officer Derek Chauvin, a whilte male kneeling on his neck closing off his air passage, a few minutes into the recording you can see Floyd stop talking and moving.

The protesters ignored social distancing and destroyed/looted any shop in their view, completely destroying the neighborhood. Officials told the protesters to keep it passive and to keep the focus on George Floyd. The officer in question has been fired and arrested and will probably be facing charges in court soon.

Bethany Hamilton

By Reiss W

Bethany Hamilton got her arm bitten off by a 13 foot long tiger shark on halloween of  2003. She is currently 30 years old with 2 sons. In march Bethany Hamilton announced that she would compete in the 2020 World Surf League (WSL) Qualifying Series.

This was really inspiring. She had her arm bitten off by a shark and as soon as her stitches were out and she was allowed to get in the water she went surfing. This all happened when she was around 13/14.

If I Could Travel the World

By Ellianna

If I could travel the world Delilah and I would get a school bus to stay in while we travel. We would start in the USA then start to leave the state. We would travel with all 12 of our dogs. Then we would take turns driving and take lots of stops on the way to let our dogs go for a walk and go to the bathroom. Our bus would be very remodeled and very updated for our way of living. We would start our adventure in some of the local national parks in montana. After that we go wherever the road would take us and eventually make it back to see our family and friends.

Along our journey we will go to many different countries. We would visit lots of families from different places. Some places we would visit are Mexico, Diminican Republic, Africa, The American Virgin Islands, Bahamas, Paris, Greece, Antarctica, Australia, Puru, Japan, Bora Bora, and Maldives. We couldn’t really take our dogs out of the country but would bring them to as many places as we could. We know this would never happen but it is just a few places we wanted to go in the feature.

Ex-officer who knelt on George Floyd’s neck charged with murder

By Ben

George Floyd was murdered by a police officer by the name of Derrick Chauvin. Floyd had a counterfeit 20 dollar bill that he used at a deli trying to buy groceries. People started recording and the police officer kneeled on his neck for 8 minutes. As George pleaded for air he said he couldt breath. When George passed away there were a bunch of protesters and chaos.

Justin Herbert

By Jace

My final post is about  a college player named Justin Herbert.  Justin plays for the Oregon Ducks.  He  is ranked higher than some NFL players already and he is only in college. He has never taken a NFL snap… ever. People say once he gets NFL practice he is going to be a franchise Quarterback.

In my opinion this is a true fact. I really do think he will be a franchise QB.  His stats show that he has a really good chance to make it in the NFL.  Maybe someday I will be able to see him play.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?

By Natasha

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go? Do you already have somewhere in mind or would it take some time to decide? Somewhere I’ve always wanted to go is Bora Bora. Bora Bora is a very small island in between Australia and South America in the South Pacific Ocean. The island is known for crystal clear waters, soft white sand beaches, and blue skies as an all around paradise. Something interesting about the islands is that there are no poisonous snakes or insects. Some of the things you could do there are snorkeling, scuba diving, shark feeding, lagoon tours, fishing and so much more! Although Bora Bora can be very expensive it’s definitely on my bucket list for the future and so many others!

Memorial weekend

By Lily

For my memorial weekend my family stayed home and we enjoyed the nice weather. My mom, sister, aunt, grandma, and me went to the cemetery to give flowers to my great grandparents and my grandfather. My grandfather passed away last year. He fought in the Vietnam War for the USA. At home my uncle got our Atv and dirt bikes out of the shop. Me and my cousins rode around our 9 acres for hours, trying not to crash into each other. I got sunburned and it still hasn’t healed all the way which is very irritating.

After a fun day outside my family had a barbeque. My uncle grilled burgers and hotdogs. My mom made macaroni salad and rhubarb lemonade. We all ate our fill and went back outside. I rollerbladed outside with my sister, then we went inside and ate ice cream.  I haven’t had much fun over quarantine but this made me smile a tiny bit.

Swimming

By Chloe

There is this place where me and my best friends go that we call “The water”. It is a river with a bunch of walking trails on the outskirts of it. It’s about a one mile walk from her house. We go there most days that I go to her house. The trails are filled with trees and bushes. Sometimes we bring her and my dog and let them swim around in a small pond on the other side of a trail.

The small pond is normally where we swim. It’s warmer than the river and there is no current. It’s a very relaxing place to go and it is one of my favorite places to be. The trails are mostly dirt, grass, bushes, and trees. There are a lot of trails but my favorite is this one where you cross a small stream of water to get to a little island kinda thing and you follow a small trail to get to a beach- looking area. I am happy I have found this place and I hope you enjoyed hearing about it. Where is your favorite place?

My life in gymnastics and dance

By Kyleigh

Gymnastics and dance is very fun to do. I have done gymnastics since I was 2 years old. I started dancing when I was 9 Years old. They are both really hard things to learn and do. I put all my blood and sweat into it. I have to practice a lot to get to the level I am in. It is really fun. I can compete but I really love to just have fun and not compete. Maybe I will start competing when I get older. My sister Bella also does Gymnastics she is by far better than I am but she has a little body so it is easier for her. I like to do Gymnastics more than dance but both of them are really fun. I especially love my gymnastics teacher. I think that everyone should be active in their life. I love mine though.

Running

By Maria

You have probably thought of when you are going to die and have been scared of that. Well if you run once a week you can outpace an early death in this case you live longer. It can be any amount of running can reduce the risk of an early death. And if you are motivated to run maybe this will help.

What makes running outpace an early death is unknown but it dose increases your health in many ways. Scientist Željko Pedišić asked 232,149 participants about their running habits and then tracked their health over a period of time from 5 ½ to 35 years.Over the course of each study a total of 25,951 participants died, allowing the researchers to look for statistical associations between running and risk of death. The researchers found that people who ran, even those who reported running as infrequently as once a month, had a 27 percent reduced risk of death from any cause compared with non-runners.

Then intensity you run is also unknown. The amount you need to run is 250 minutes per week at your own pace. Some studies have sparked debate by suggesting that higher levels of running , more than 250 minutes a week could actually negate any benefits in terms of not having a premature death. You can also run a certain amount everyday it just has to equal up to 250 minutes per week.

If you don’t want to die sooner than later I suggest just running 250 minutes per week every week after work, school, volunteering, or anything. Plus you also get to exercise a healthy amount.
